Cork Trivet Pig

Cork is unique for its natural properties: Lightness, elasticity, insulation, resistance to wear, hypoallergenic and fire retardant.

The cork is harvested from the cork oak tree, "Quercus suber", which grows in portugal and other countries which border the western edge of the mediterranean basin. Bark is taken from the tree in 9 to 10 year cycles. Typically, each tree will be extracted from between 15 and 20 times in its lifetime.

Using cork products contributes to preserving a natural, renewable resource and an important ecological environment in western mediterranean countries.
